Aruba… A Trip To One Happy Island

In August, Ben and I traveled to Aruba in celebration of his father recently turning 70. And one we got there, I was in love. The white sands, clear blue waters, the constant breeze (important in a humid climate) were just a few reasons why. But my favorite thing about Aruba had to be the lovely people.

The family and I spent the majority of our time at the resort engaging in typical vacation activities. Relaxing by the pool, on the beach, swimming (sadly not me because I sadly can’t swim to save my life). And we of course ate all the delicious seafood dishes we could stomach.

In the midst of our stay, Ben and I took one day to venture out to see more of the island and I was so happy we did. In doing so, we got a better feel of how kind, and truly lovely the islanders were. The one thing that struck me was how warm and happy many of the locals appeared. I made it a point to ask why that was so or if it was all an act to impress the tourists, one gentleman replied “it’s just a happy island”. I loved that.

I made it a point to pack light soft fabrics for our trip. I wanted to be comfortable but still looking as stylish as possible. Though it’s very breezy and windy in Aruba but, the weather is consistently quite hot, so wearing light and soft fabrics makes it more tolerable. Within this post, you can have a better idea of pieces that work.

The one tip I learned on our way home at the airport is try to avoid heading home on a Saturday as the Aruba airport is a bit chaotic especially on that day. But if you must, be prepared to spend about 2.5 hours going through all of security! This was a bit unbearable for me.
